Travelling opens our minds – and our world.

When we travel, we immerse ourselves in different cultures and customs. By embracing these new experiences, we help break down the boundaries that exist today – the boundaries that lead us to think that there are more things dividing us than uniting us.

Why explore your diversity?

Look beneath the often overwhelming sights, sounds and smells of another country, and you’ll find that we’re very much alike. In fact, most of us are far more diverse and have much more in common with people from other countries than we would ever have thought.

In an independent survey of 7,292 people across 18 countries, we found out that over half of us believe there would be less intolerance in the world if people travelled more, and three quarters of us think that travelling has made us look more positively on differences and diversity.

momondo was founded on the belief that everybody should be able to travel the world, to meet other people, and experience other cultures and religions. To travel is to fuel that natural curiosity that leads us to explore, leads us to pursue new ways and see the world in a different light every day, because when we experience something different, we begin to see things differently.

We want to encourage you to explore new destinations, and to change how you travel by following our five ways of travelling:

1. Lower your guard

Travelling is about exposing yourself to something else, something different.
Open your mind and put a leash on your judgement. And remember: you are just as different to others as they are to you.

2. Do talk to strangers

Not only the staff at your hotel. A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet. And a quick question might turn into an inspirational conversation.

3. Say yes!

Travelling is not just about destinations – it’s about what happens along the way.
Yes is the magic word to new experiences. Yes, I’m lost. Yes, I’d love to dance. Yes, there’s room at this table …

4. Stay curious

Have courage to do something for the first time. Travelling is about crossing borders, including the ones you have put up for yourself.

5. Care to share!

Facing the world with an open mind makes you a source of inspiration to others.
Let friends and family see the beauty and friendliness of the world through your eyes.

We’d like to invite you to travel – and live – with these ways in mind, and to share your journeys with us and the world on Instagram and Facebook, using the hashtag #LetsOpenOurWorld
